Capacity Building Programmes
Nine training courses for the Union Election Commission of Myanmar (UECM) were conducted at IIIDEM, New Delhi, for approximately 215 officers during 2018-2019.
Over a period of five years, 400 judges and judicial officers are scheduled to be trained at the National Judicial Academy of India (NJAI), Bhopal. To date, around 240 judicial officers have been trained.
Since March 2017, more than 1,200 Myanmar police officers on the civilian side have undergone training.
Five specialized courses for Myanmar power sector professionals were conducted at NSB, Noida, for about 100 officers in 2023.
Thirty-nine Myanmar health officials from the Ministry of Health participated in the International Public Health Management Development Programme conducted at PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 2023.
Six e-ITEC online training programmes in English language skills (Basic and Advanced) were conducted for Myanmar officials during 2022-23, with around 200 participants attending.
Nineteen officers from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement returned to Myanmar in May 2024 after successfully completing a two-year Master in Social Work (MSW) programme at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, under the ITEC programme.
Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism:
Thirty participants from the Ministry of Planning and Finance (MoPF) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) attended the country-specific ITEC training course on “Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financial Terrorism (AML/CFT),” held from 2 to 9 September 2024 at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics, Palasamudram, Andhra Pradesh, and New Delhi.
TOT for caring children with disabilities:
Twenty trainees from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Yangon, are attending a Training of Trainers (TOT) programme on caring for children with disabilities at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, from 28 March to 20 May 2025.
MGC plan of action:
Various capacity-building training programmes were conducted under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Plan of Action for officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; Ministry of Planning and Finance; Ministry of Transport and Communications; Ministry of Commerce; Ministry of Industry; Central Bank of Myanmar; and others. During FY 2024-25, 27 Myanmar participants from these ministries attended five training programmes.
BIMSTEC:
The 1st BIMSTEC Youth Summit was held from 7 to 11 February 2025 in Ahmedabad. Nine Myanmar youth delegates from the political, business, diaspora, and government sectors attended the summit.
Fifteen Myanmar participants attended the BIMSTEC Youth Leaders’ Climate Change Summit from 20 to 24 February 2025 at Vishva Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi.
